Research - Internal Colours

We've taken our time (pre-)selecting internal colours mainly because it's not something we don't particularly want to re-do once we've moved in. Here is the short list (still subject to change since we've not had our colour selections appointment):

Paint
Note: All standard Taubmans paint colours selected.

Flooring
Note: All carpet and floor tiles noted are upgrades.

Kitchen
Note: Laminex Natural Finish is standard, however having a two-tone kitchen is an upgrade. Mirrored Splashback and Essastone benchtops also upgrades.

Bathroom

Doors
Note: Both front and internal doors noted are upgrades.

Our Journey Choosing Paint From Eden Brae's Standard Range
It's taken about six weeks or possibly even more just to decide on an internal paint colour for the walls! Thankfully we've had a few months in between signing our contract (March) to when our colour selection appointment is scheduled (August). We have no idea how others manage this in so little time (which is usually the case)!

When choosing paint (from the standard range) you only get to choose from 54 colours as featured in the Taubmans Custom Colour Selections booklet, pictured below. This will be applied using two coats; the first being the undercoat with the second being your choice of paint. To upgrade to a three coat application it'll cost approx. $1,000 based on what I have read from other blogs.

Our shortlist of colours we've been tossing up for the past six weeks; Tombstone, Marble Mist, Surfmist, Winter Ice, White Spirit and Phantom Dream...

During one of our (many) visits to the display home out at The Ponds (Sydney) we decided to go and have a peak at the Clarendon display homes. We were blown away - their homes are absolutely stunning! They were both well thought through and had impeccable interior design. To be honest, we'd consider Clarendon if we were to do this all over again!

We loved the interior paint throughout the home, whatever it was we had to have it! On our way out we asked one the sales consultants if they knew. After trawling through a big deck of paperwork they were able to confirm for us it was Taubmans White Spirit throughout. We couldn't believe what we were hearing, firstly it's from the standard colour range and secondly it was already in our short list. Decision made and other item ticked off the list!

Here are the pictures we took from the Clarendon Ferndale 31 Display Home at The Ponds. If you haven't already it's a must to go see!

Kitchen inspiration.

Two-tone kitchen with a window used for the primary splashback and a very 'bling' mosaic for the rest of the splashback. 20mm stone benchtops throughout.

20mm stone cooktop run with SMEG branded appliances.

Looking out to the decked alfresco with corner stacker doors and recessed tracks.

Decking inspiration.

Feature wall (left hand side) similar to Taubmans Apache Stone (from the standard range). Plantation shutters to offset the complementary furniture.

Closer view of the feature wall similar to
Taubmans Apache Stone (from the standard range).

Dining room dream. Also great view of the contrast between
Taubmans Crisp White and White Spirit.

Closer view of this dream dining room.

Wish list - mirror and accessories!

Separate WIP.

Grey Porcelain tiles (approx. dimension) 1000mm x 500mm.
