All your external colour decisions are made at
PGH Bricks & Pavers. Our closest showroom is located at Schofields (Sydney, NSW). The showroom is neat, but we struggled at first to locate all the bricks which were part of the standard range, since they're quite spread out across the site.
The team at PGH Bricks & Pavers will give you two sheets of paper to reference. The first shows you the map of the site and the brick names while the second is an Eden Brae specific sheet which breaks down the bricks into categories labeled A to H. Eden Brae classify A as the standard range through to H which is the highest upgrade. Unfortunately no one at PGH Bricks & Pavers could advise us of any pricing since this is all dictated through Eden Brae at the Colour Selections Appointment. That said, I have managed to get some ball parks which might help you with budgeting:
A - Standard $0
B - Approx. $700
C - Approx. $1,200
D - Approx. $1,800
E - Approx. $2,500
F - Approx. $3,200
G - Unknown
H - Up to $6,000
Off-white mortar upgrade: ~$300 (single storey)

Eden Brae's Standard Roof Tile Range:
Please note: we received Monier Traditional Roof Tiles as part of our '
Smart Start Luxury Inclusions' package. This will of course vary depending on your package/offer at the time.
PGH and Monier also offer a great online tool to help kick start the colour selection process, it's called Colour Touch;
http://www.colourtouch.com.au/. Highly recommended for those starting out and are unsure of colours.
For us, picking external colours was a relatively easy process since we both preferred the colours from the 'Rustic Brown' range. Budget for us was an issue, so despite us liking all the colours from the D and H range we had to choose from the A range. This reduced our options to three; Surry, Gravel and Mocha. We ended up selecting Mocha which is quite a textured brick.
At this point our (pre-selected) externals are:
- Facade: Riviera
- Roof Tile: Monier Traditional Roof Tiles in Barramundi
- Gutters, Downpipes, Meter Box: Monument
- Fascia: Surfmist
- Windows: Surfmist
- Door: Surfmist
- Brick: Mocha (Rustic Brown)
- Mortar: Off-white Ironed finish (off-white $250-350 upgrade)
- Rendered columns: Taubmans Coach House (render is an upgrade)
- Driveway: Gunmetal concrete
- Garage Door: Steel-Line Slimline in Surfmist

Our external colour selections (as noted above) |
|
Close-up of Mocha - it's quite a textured brick, the effect is called 'Rolled'. It means it's treated with a patterned cylinder prior to firing, producing a variety of textures that are either rustic or grainy.
|
|
The centre brick stack is Mocha - the top half uses natural coloured mortar with a raked finish while the bottom half uses off-white mortar with a flush finish. Our preference is definitely off-white with an ironed finished. Unfortunately the brickwork on this particular display looks terrible and doesn't give Mocha the standout it deserves. |

PGH Bricks & Pavers can also provide you with an A4 sheet with address details of other homes built using the same bricks. We hit the jackpot when we headed south (Camden/Oran Park). We found an Eden Brae home with the exact same facade and colour selections, even the slope of the block was the same! The only difference being we'll have rendered columns and concrete for the driveway. Seeing this home has confirmed our colour decisions! |
